From Humble Beginnings
It began on the lush green slopes of Mount Elgon of western Kenya, where morning mists cling to the trees and the soil is dark, volcanic, and alive. This is where the Gummerus family planted their first coffee trees—not in pursuit of a trend, but in search of something deeper. For Gloria, born and raised on a Kenyan farm, coffee was always more than a crop. It was memory. It was ritual. It was the aroma of home.
Years later, that call was answered hand in hand with Jarmo, a Finnish engineer turned farmer who believed that farming could be something more. Together, they founded Sakami Farm, built not just to produce coffee, but to make a difference. From that foundation, Kigeni Sakami was born—the next chapter, written by the next generation.
about the People First
Run by the youth, Kigeni Sakami carries forward the same values with a fresh perspective: bold, transparent, and future-focused. Based in Finland, Kigeni Sakami connects the family’s farm in Kenya directly with roasters, retailers, and conscious consumers across Europe.
- No middlemen.
- No guesswork.
- Just exceptional, traceable products with integrity from soil to shelf.
From Farm to Cup
The coffee speaks for itself: bright, floral, with a crisp acidity and notes of blackcurrant and citrus. It whispered of the mountain it came from, of the patience and precision it was raised with. But more than that, it told a story of family—of two people sowing a shared vision, rooted in two continents, and growing together.
We are more than traders—we are a family, a living legacy. Every product we ship, whether it’s our high-altitude specialty coffee or sun-dried macadamias, is part of that story. It’s a story that spans continents, but always returns home—to the red earth of Elgon, the strength of Gloria and Jarmo, and the spirit of the youth who carry that flame forward.
